So today has been one of those days where you're busy, but it feels like nothing is getting done. Work went so great today! My kid was on his best behavior that he's ever been on since we've worked together. I think that he's just getting really excited that he gets two weeks off for spud harvest :) He even told me that we're buddies, which was pretty cute coming from a 12 year old.
After work I had all these ambitious ideas about getting our storage unit cleaned out (done), going through our food storage and preparing some easier meals like whole grain pancake mix (done), cleaning out the 2nd bedroom and boxing everything to put back in the storage unit (fail), going to the gym (fail), completing some homework (currently working on), and go to bed early. Well, for me, 9 o'clock bedtime is ideal. It's not 10, and I'm not even close to being ready . And, to top it all off, because I'm blogging while listening to a web lecture, I just accidentally closed the tab with the lecture. Oops. You can only take so much on health behavior theories, right?
Today hasn't been all bad, though. Now that I've written everything I had intended to do it's made me realize that I actually got more done than I thought, which always makes you feel better. Like I mentioned earlier, My kid was really really good today. He was so good that I even let him read captain underpants for about 15 minutes in language arts. He was ecstatic about that! The other day he said something pretty funny. He kept saying something to me, and for the life of me I couldn't understand and thing. Finally he said rather annoyed, "Why do you keep asking me WHAT whenever I speak to you? Are you deaf?!?!" And I said, "Actually, I kind of am deaf. I have a perferated tympanic membrane which basically means I have an extra hole in my ear." He looked really shocked and kind of sad and said, "Mrs. Burch, I'm sorry that you're disabled." hahaha. It was so funny. I about died. I don't think he'll ever accuse anyone of being deaf again.
So, my mom and grandma are coming into town tomorrow or Wed, and I am very excited, but that's part of the reason I'm feeling rushed to get things done today and tomorrow. Starting Wed, the kids have 2 weeks off of school for spud harvest which means that I get 2 weeks off of work. I know, I'm really unlucky, right? :) Anyway, so my mom is coming into town and then I'm going back to WA with her until the 11th. (I can't wait to get back there!!!) A couple of days after I get back to Idaho, Katie, Aaron's sister, is coming to stay with us for a couple of months until we move home in Dec. So, I have to get that bedroom ready for someone to live in it, and get all of our things packed up in boxes to make the move easier in Dec. I probably should be doing more homework instead of blogging, but I feel like I really need to keep up on this. I just started Saturday. I can't give up so soon. Hopefully something interesting will happen tomorrow and I'll be able to share it with all of you. It's funny how for so long every day I've thought "OMG, that was so funny. I should write a blog." And now that I have one, nothing cool has happened. ha!

Starting Out
So, I've been deliberating on whether or not to start a blog for quite a while. To me, it seems like blogs can be extremely egocentric so that has been a deterrent. But, because of the nature of work I do (those of you who are friends of mine on facebook know this to be true) from time to time there are particularly hilarious things that seem to happen to me. For example, a couple weeks ago my client came up behind me in his art class and cut the back of my hair. Although I don't want anything like that to happen again, I think that a blog is the perfect forum to share the details to amuse friends and family.
A couple of things about me really quickly that I'm sure will come up as I blog more:
I have been married to Aaron for 3 years (we just had our anniversary on the 19th). I have two nieces, one nephew and another niece on the way and I ADORE these kids. I do social work and so my job is basically working with people who have mental health challenges. I'm currently working with a 12 yr old who has severe ADHD. For my last job I worked with a woman who was terrified of being around other people so for her therapy we joined a craft group. Since then, I have become kind of an old lady and crochet all the time. I LOVE going to the gym and go about 5 to 6 times per week. And finally, one of my favorite things to do is cook!
I hope that this blog is entertaining for all of you and you enjoy it. I'll add more later when I get back from the gym.
